General Information

Jeanette is a mental health social worker with extensive clinical experience in drug and alcohol, mental health, child protection and trauma. Jeanette worked in an inner city drug and alcohol department for 10 years and has well developed group work and counselling skills in supporting people whose drug use is impacting their lives. In particular, Jeanette has an understanding of stimulant use and the nature, contexts and the dynamics of the ways in which people use stimulants. Jeanette has a deep interest in sexual assault, domestic violence and survivors of childhood abuse.

Jeanette also has experience in working therapeutically with clients who experience depression, anxiety, relationship issues and life adjustments and is able to draw on her wide ranging skills to best support her clients.

Jeanette’s style is warm, engaging and flexible and she appreciates the need to establish an environment of trust and clarity with her clients to maximise the best possible outcomes. She will tailor an approach in consultation with you to meet your individual needs.

Jeanette has completed further tertiary studies in narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused therapy. Jeanette works from a strengths based model and themes of hope, aspirations, identity and sexuality are major ideas explored in the counselling process.

Jeanette’s background in social work gives her the lens to view people in their psycho-social contexts which means she can appreciate and assess the circumstances surrounding a client’s current concerns and use this as a base for developing a best practice approach to therapy. Jeanette has a strong commitment to social justice.

Jeanette is happy to discuss your needs by telephone prior, to clarify how she may be of assistance to you. More information can be found at her website
